Painting in the Park: Sunday 22nd May, 10.00 – 13.00
Over-18s are warmly invited to join us in the park to create a piece of art using a medium of your choice – pencils, coloured pencils, paint, pastels, ink, collage, mixed media or any other. It will be a great day to meet other people with an artistic temperament and to share experience and knowledge.
Meet for a short briefing near the Chalet Cafe at 10.00 am. Don’t forget to bring all your own art materials. You can then choose any location in the park to create your artwork, being considerate of other park users. Preston Park has many places where you can find interesting subject matter and work directly from life.
Meet back at Chalet Cafe at 13.00 pm to share your work with your colleagues.
Any artwork you create does remain your property but we will ask your consent to take a photograph. We hope to share these online and perhaps in an exhibition in the Park.
Tree-Sure event: 29th and 30th May, 11.00 – 15.00
Join us at the Chalet Cafe on either of these two days for the launch of Preston Park’s very own Tree-Sure Island map, which has been developed by a local teacher who is a member of our committee, to help children identify many of the different beautiful trees in our Park and learn more about the many different varieties.
The map will be on sale at only £1 and children will be able to use it to find different trees in the park with the help of ‘Goldie,’ a helpful and friendly goldfinch who will give them things to do and observe to find out more.
Several volunteer student helpers will also be available to give help to children in finding the trees and finding out more information. I’m sure many parents will enjoy this event as much as the children! We hope lots of you will come to discover Tree-Sure Island in Preston Park!
Art workshop for the velodrome mural: 25th June, 10.00 – 1400 and 28th June, 11.00 – 13.00
Here’s a call out for kids and adults to create artwork ideas for a mural at the Velodrome in Preston Park.
The mural is inspired by the life and history of the Velodrome. We will be at the Velodrome on two days in June with materials all ready to help inspire you into creating designs that might end up in the final artwork.
Painting starts in July and we’ll be using some of the ideas created to appear in the mural.
